When I was a small kid, my parents asked me, what I want to be. I wanted to be a Detective and my brother Cowboy. It wasn’t until one day that I started asking, who should I be and what should I do. Answers were: “Learn, have good grades, finish University and you will be able to choose any occupation you will want”
And “At everyone sticks stuff with what they work with. Coal dust on the miner, flour on miller, and money on the banker.” But they also said that “The shoemaker walks barefoot and the tailor’s children have nothing to wear. ”
So I started to wonder, “Why is the shoemaker barefoot and why does the miller have so much flour that he doesn’t know what to do with it?”
And that’s how I find out the seven things that poor or unsuccessful people do, and which the successful or the rich don’t.
1. Poor people have a big TV. Rich people have a large library.
How many hours did you sit in front of the TV today? And what about yesterday? “RESPECT” Have you read a book this year? What was that? Harry Potter? 50 shades of Gray? What about One Thing by Gary Keller or The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham? No? I know, it’s boring. No plot, no adventure. Well, if you think that fairy tales will get you somewhere in life, I wish you good luck.
2. Poor people are paid for their time. Rich people are paid based on the results.
You know the drill. Get up in the morning to go to work, show some activity, count seconds to the end of the shift, just ot get few bucks. Rich people also start their days like that. Get up in the morning, go to work, and they get job done. Their job does not end after eight hours. Even day off is not really a day off. A little free time will come when the project is finished. Only then they will enjoy the fruits of their labor. Or not, the product is useless and nobody buys it. No one cares how much sweat, toil, and blood is behind its development.
For example Messi and Ronaldo. They are not paid based on hours spent training. They are paid based on results. They are paid based on how many goals they can score.
You can be the best lift boy or doorman in the world but what value do you bring to the company every day?
3. Poor people save. Rich people invest.
This item which I won’t use single time in my life is at a discount, I have to buy it right now to save 5 cents. My Professor of Finance said: “One euro saved from costs is one euro of profit. But to make a euro of profit, you need 10 euros of costs. ”True. But you should remember: The euro saved is still only one euro. Rich people invest in the car because it saves them the time they can spend improving their products. Rich people buy a more expensive camera because it can record a higher quality image.
4. Poor people try to convince others that they have more than they really have.
Rich people buy a shirt for a few bucks because they like it and they feel good in it. Poor people buy a shirt for 50 euros because it has the word Dolce & Gabbana on it. The rich know what wealth they have and do not need to convince anyone of it. The poor have nothing, but they will always try convince you that they have more than you think.
5. The poor know everything. The rich are still learning.
The poor have an opinion on everything. Which football player is lame, which politician is a fool. They surround themselves with people who are dumber than them just to feel that they are the sharpest tool in the shed. And they will fight for their beliefs because their biceps are the strongest counter-argument they can come up with. Rich people surround themselves with people more intelligent than them and they are humble. Because they know that they can learn many things from someone wiser or more experienced. And if you show them where they went wrong, they will thank you.
6. The poor see obstacles. The rich see opportunities.
The poor see the wall, the rich garden behind it. The poor have dreams that they will never fulfill because they see a number of obstacles that are on the way to achieve them. Oh, it takes a lot of work, it will cost a lot of money, someone else is already doing it and better than me … The rich have a goal and will not be stopped by anything. There is no obstacle that cannot be overcome.
7. The poor think that money is the root of all evil. The rich think that the absence of money is root of all evil.
Drugs, violence, diseases … you can expect this in the poorest areas. Or have you ever seen the bank being robbed by of someone who came out of Lamborghini? Money is neither good nor bad. It is only a tool and certainly do not carry evil to where it appears. And the only way to have more is to spend less than you earn.
So these were 7 things that poor people do and that rich people don’t.
